Free Landing
The Free Landing is a registered Common, with the residents of Great Ouseburn having the right of Common to Fish and launch their boats. The area was improved for the use of the public with a leisure area having a picnic table and access to the river to fish and launch canoes. The Ripon Explorer Scouts and Boroughbridge Scouts helped to clear the undergrowth and improve the riverbank.
In 2009 the Parish Council negotiated with Aldwark Manor Hotel and Leeds & District Amalgamation fishing club to create a public footpath to Aldwark along the river bank, a pleasant riverside walk.
There are also two private moorings which the council rents out yearly, contact the clerk for more information.
Interested Users of the Free Landing now also have a Facebook Group that they can join to share their thoughts and information.
There is an interpretation panel at the site giving more information on the Free Landing.
