Allotments
The Well Lane Allotments were awarded to the people of Great Ouseburn under the Enclosure Award, enrolled 6th March 1777. (page 168 & 169). An Act for dividing and inclosing certain open fields Lands and Commons within the township and parish of Great Useburn in the West Riding of the County of York.
"We do therefore in further conformity to the said Act in the first place award set out allot and appoint for the getting of stone gravel and sand or other materials for the repairing of houses, barns, stables, fences and buildings within the said township and mending of bridges and highways and other private roads and ways herein awarded within the said township and parish. All that other parcel of common or waste ground from the east end of the allotment of the said Mann Horsfield on the said Carr side containing one acre of land or thereabouts bounded on the north and east by the said Carrside road, upon the south by lands herein awarded to his said Majesty and by his said Majesty's ancient Inclosed lands and on the west by lands herein awarded to the said Mann Horsfield in the said Carrside."
